Cape Donald (hexacode: KI-CD) is a rural district in the north of Kings. The district was first settled in the late 19th century by German settlers, and to this day its culture remains heavily influenced by the country, with many of Cape Donald's citizens speaking German or identifying themselves as having German ancestry. German is a recognised minority language within the district. The district's administrative headquarters are located in Nordhorn.

History[]

Geography[]

Cape Donald is located in the far north of Kings, close to the West Kings and Windthorn Shores districts. Whilst the coastal areas of Cape Donald are rather flat, there are some mountainous areas inland named the Grandforest Hills.

Settlements[]

There are three settlements in Cape Donald; Nordhorn, Bergdorf and Sunderland. The former two were founded by German settlers in the 1890s, whilst Sunderland was founded by British settlers in 1887. Nordhorn is the largest of the settlements, with a population of 582, as well as the administrative center of the district.

Demographics[]

Politics[]

Cape Donald is one of the more conservative areas in the state, with CCPL being the most popular party amongst voters. The district elects one member of the Kings State Council, and the Cape Donald seat in the council is currently a CCPL seat.

Culture[]

Cape Donald's culture is heavily influenced by the culture of Germany, and to a lesser extent the cultures of Scandinavia and the United States, where other early settlers in the region arrived from.
