Eppinck Square is a square in Mandarin Village and the place to be in Noble City, Lovia. Many restaurants and trendy shops are located around this cozy square.
History[]
A town square is an open area commonly found in the heart of a traditional town used for community gatherings. Other names for town square are civic center, city square, urban square, market square, public square, plaza (from Spanish), piazza (from Italian), and place (from French).
Most town squares are hardscapes suitable for open markets, music concerts, political rallies, and other events that require firm ground. Being centrally located, town squares are usually surrounded by small shops such as bakeries, meat markets, cheese stores, and clothing stores. At their center is often a fountain, well, monument, or statue. Many of those with fountains are actually named Fountain Square.
Recently, the pavement of the square has been renewed and citizens as well as visitors like the concept better because of the brand new image it gives to the square.
Principles of Intellegent Urbanism[]
Eppinck Square was designed to be the central square of Mandarin Village taking as a guideline the Principles of Intelligent Urbanism (PIU), a theory of urban planning composed of a set of ten axioms intended to guide the formulation of city plans and urban designs. They are intended to reconcile and integrate diverse urban planning and management concerns. These axioms include environmental sustainability, heritage conservation, appropriate technology, infrastructure efficiency, placemaking, Social Access, transit oriented development, regional integration, human scale, and institutional integrity.
