Biography[]

Early life[]

Devon was born on November 4, 1846 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as the only child to Edward Devon, a textile factory worker from Plymouth, Great Britain and Martha Devon (nee Frederick), a housewife also from Plymouth, Great Britain. Devon's family lived in a small wooden cabin in the outskirts of Pittsburgh, where he was home-schooled by mother during his primary school years.

When he was sixteen, he got a part-time job as a general store employee in Pittsburgh to afford the cost of high/secondary school where he earned a reputation as being diligent, stern, and educated. He worked overtime almost all the time, where he also began to set his goals for life.

After high school, Devon was accepted into the prestigious Cambridge University in Massachusetts in 1864 during the American Civil War, where he psychologically matured as a man, and where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business in 1867.

Before Lovia[]

After graduation, Devon moved to San Francisco, California for better opportunities. He founded the Devon Insurance Company there in 1869 with his then girlfriend Alexandra Martin, where he was able to purchase a small house and settle down. However, in 1875 he decided to move to Lovia to achieve even better opportunities, and he quickly left three maids in care of his house in California.

Lovian career[]

In Lovia, Devon gained national success.
