The Lovia national beach soccer team is the official representative team of Lovia in the sport of beach soccer. The team is organized by the LSCA and the Lovian Football Association.
The team plays at grounds in Noble City and Adoha.
History[]
The team was founded in June 2013. It missed out on participating in the 2013 OFC Beach Soccer Championship, but played its first match in November, defeating the Bahamas 6-4.
In 2014 the team played several more matches, defeating New Caledonia 8-3, losing to Vanuatu 5-7 and defeating Jamaica 8-5.
In 2015 the team and the LFA have organized a new competition. Initially it was to feature a mixture of Pacific (OFC) and Caribbean (CONCACAF) teams, but this fell through, and the competition was created as the 2015 Lovia-Pacific Cup as a parallel to the OFC Beach Soccer Championship, which was cancelled for 2015. The organisers intend to have as many teams participate as possible, similarly to the 2012 Pacific Islands Cup for rugby sevens.
