The Lovia national cricket team is the official representative team of Lovia in the sport of Cricket. The team is organized by the LBCA, a sub-organization of the LSCA.

The team plays at various grounds, including the River Oval in Noble City and the Old Cricket Field in Portland.

History[]

The first cricket clubs in Lovia were founded in the 1950's, like the Portland Cricket Club and the Noble City Thunderers, the most famous Lovian cricketer of this era being Edward Lahey. However, the overall organization of cricket at that time was quite low in Lovia. A Lovian representative team played a handful of matches in the 1960's and 1970's, but it was never considered an official team.

Cricket declined in Lovia in the 1980's and the 1990's, especially after the dissolution of the Portland Cricket Club in 1981, and only a few clubs remained active during this time, like the Noble City Thunderers and the Hurbanova Knights. However, cricket started to be reinvigorated in Lovia in 2000, when the Lovia Cricket League was founded. Thanks to the LCL, cricket once again increased in popularity in Lovia, and since 2006 it has had eight teams, expanding to nine for the 2013 season.

During the turbulent years of 2010 and 2011, the LCL had a hiatus, but it resumed in 2012. Over the next few years, interest increased for there to be an official Lovian team. The Lovia national cricket team was founded in March 2014, and gained associate membership of the ICC. In November 2014, the team played its first official matches, Twenty20s against Bermuda and Scotland, both of which Lovia won. Based on these performances, and those of the Lovian clubs, the ICC awarded Lovia, in December 2014, with O.D.I. and T20 status until 2017.

In January 2015, the Lovia national cricket team played its first One Day International against the West Indies.
