The Lovian Unionist Syndicate is a political party and labor union founded in Manchester, Kings. The union was founded by Jason Rogers who was dissatisfied by the lack of support for socialist trade unions. The party and union advocated for better working conditions, collective control of the work place, egalitarian social conditions, and using peaceful means through obtaining these goals.

Founding[]

During the end of 2013, the nation of Lovia was lacking a strong far-left presence in politics and representation in the work place. Most unions were not supporting the more centrist United Left and sought to have an organization which could help them. Activist Jason Rogers helped organize smaller unions and left wing leaders to form the Lovian Unionist Syndicate which advocates for their respective left-wing goals.

Unionist Membership and goals[]

The Union grew quickly due to two reasons. Many smaller radical unions were without representation and quickly disbanded and joined the LUS. From its founding in September to November it had about 4,000 members from these smaller unions which now formed the actual Lovian Unionist Syndicate. In March of 2014 Vox Populi joined on as a separate union. Its nearly 4,000 members now doubled the amount of members within the LUS. By the special elections of 2014, LUS had over 8,000 members according to membership roles.

Collective ownership of workplaces is one of the main goals in the party and union. The first worker ownership of a workplace happened in Portland, Kings, of a bakery.

Strikes[]

The Syndicate passed a motion calling for its first ever strike on October 22nd 2014, for Truth Island self-determination. Because the motion was heavily opposed by many Syndicate members, particularly outside Truth Island, members were permitted to opt out. As a result, only 100 of the several thousand members, mostly in Ferguson Beach Village, withheld their labour in a symbolic move to push for independence.

Politics[]

The LUS political party seeks representation in Congress in order to shape the national political discourse, saying the unrest in Clymene was representative of a desire for change within the nation. The LUS decided to go into electoral coalition with the newly re-invigorated Communist Party of Lovia (neo-marxist) in 2015; however, some members also voted for other parties, such as United Left or the Marxistiski-Leninistiski Parti o'Eesheckt.

After the election the LUS decided its efforts were best used in supporting radical leftists instead of putting forward their own candidates.

Party Congress[]

The Party has a ten member Congress, last elected from November 1st to November 8th. The Congress is elected from party and union voters marking their top ten choices for members. Elections will happen every two years, with the Party and Union leader changing as the council declares.
