Milerose is a suburban neighborhood located in greater Sofasi, to the east of the city center. Milerose was founded in 1953 as a resort town and was billed "Lovia's Playground". Milerose became known for its space-age inspired googie buildings, a few of which still survive to this day.
History[]
Milerose was founded in 1953 as the town of the future. The main buildings featured futuristic building designs. The name "Milerose" came about in 1955 when King Lucas I of Lovia visited the town; the inhabitants of the town made a mile of roses on Boardwalk Avenue to mark the route the king would take.
Milerose's buildings took inspiration from space-age american buildings; their heyday was in the late 1950s to the mid 1960s. By the early 1970s the googie style fell out of fashion and many of the old buildings fell into disrepair or were torn down. In the 1980s many were restored and a few neo-spaceage buildings were made in the 1990s.
In the 21st century Milerose is no longer a resort town but a mostly residential area. It does attract many tourists and people who want to see the town's space-age architecture.
Culture[]
Milerose is noted for its "Mile of Roses" festival. Every May and June Boardwalk Avenue is planted with roses and colorful flowers along both sides.
