Oxelinx School is a small, private school for children between the ages of 3 and 16 (K-10) located in Clave Rock and owned by the Charleston Educational Trust
History[]
The school was established in May 2013, as the third insitution run by the Charleston Educational Trust. The school buildings were completed in late 2012, before the opening of the school.
Modern day[]
The school is located in two buildings opposite Oxelinx Park, Clave Rock.
- Jameson Building- The main building of the school where teaching in grades 7-10 takes place.
- Park Building- The smaller building of the school where teaching in grades K-6 takes place.
Curriculum and school day[]
Curriculum[]
The school teaches a balanced, non-religious curriculum. Teaching in the Primary Wing focuses on building up basic skills in English and Maths. History, Sciences, Languages, Physical Education and the Arts are also taught in the Primary Wing.
However, the Secondary Wing has a more wide-ranging curriculum, including Religions of the World (a course with a balanced approach to the major religions of the world), Computing and Oceana. Students also study three compulsory subjects (English, Maths and Science) and choose four optional subjects from a wide selection
School day[]
In the junior wing, lessons run from 9:00 to 3:30 daily, whilst in the senior wing lessons run from 8:30 to 4:00 daily. The school year begins in early September and ends in mid July. Students have 2 week breaks in April and December, as well as one week breaks in October, February and May.
Fees[]
The school does not currently charge fees, as it is the philosophy of the Charleston Educational Trust that all children deserve a free, high-quality education.
