Peter Ský (1916-1995) was a former governor of Oceana from 1958 until 1964. He served three consecutive terms. Peter Ský was considered to be a rather progressive politician[1] who accepted the protest generation of the 60s.
Early life[]
Peter Ský was born to Stefan Ský, a Slovak fisherman, and Anica Zurvic-Funk, a Polish dressmaker, on Friday, 13 August 1916. in Hurbanova. Sky had 1 brother, John Ský, and 7 sisters; Sofia, Anica, Marija, Kristina, Jovana, Rosalia and Ana. The family wasn't very rich, but made enough money to get along.
Political career[]
Peter Ský and his family, the Ský Family, has been very active in politics, especially in Oceana. He was a hopeful candidate for Mayor of Hurbanova in the 1940s and 1950s. He came close to being mayor in 1945; however he lost to Jonas Hladovka Jr.
Ský ran for Governor of Oceana in 1958 and won outright. He was re-elected 2 more times, in 1960 and 1962, eventually serving three consecutive terms of each 2 years from 1958 to 1964. In 1964, he was replaced by the last old-fashioned conservative Asht Ilava.
Family[]
Peter Ský married Isabella Tenning in 1948, but could not have any children. They got frustrated and divorced in 1951. In 1953, he married Esmeralda Ramsley and had 4 children, Šlový Ský, Hlan Ský, Gregorian Ský and Marcia Ský.
