The Special Federal Elections of 2014 were federal elections to elect a new group of MOTCs to complete the 2014 term due to the inactivity of the previous Congress. The election lasted from 1 July, 2014 to 13, July 2014. The need for the elections was raised by Dirk Brandt, a German-Lovian from Kings, and was quickly supported by Oos Wes Ilava, who was almost elected Prime Minister as a result of the 2014 Federal Elections.
Calls for Special Elections[]
As the Abrahams Government was elected in January of 2014, many leftists were excited by the prospects of a more socialist party being elected, after two Ilava governments (Ilava I and Ilava II) had seen a huge rise in power for his CCPL and Hoffmann's CNP.
When the UL failed to have a successful government in early- to mid- 2014 due to the inactivity of a serious number of Congressmembers and further due to the conflict with Burenia it was decided fresh elections were needed. The first real advocate for this change was Dirk Brandt, who brought the issue national attention in the midst of the nation crisis. It was decided to create a smaller, provisional Congress instead of the typical 100-member group as prescribed by the Constitution.

Debates[]
As the elections approached, the nationwide crisis of the Burenian invasion made the possibility for widespread debating near impossible. Many proponents of democracy from across the political spectrum were upset by this lack of a feature key to most elections, and wanted debates.
Dirk Brandt, a conservative businessman, and George Wrexley, a liberal journalist decided to have a debate at a prominent speaking site in Noble City. The debate was quite popular among both the right and left of the political spectrum, who both support democracy.

It was the only debate of the election cycle, but it is largely cited as a big feature in both Brandt and Wrexley's early political careers.
Polling[]
As Lovians prepared to go to the polls, a number of issues were deemed to be extremely important to the average voters. The main issues that were brought up in polling were all about the then-occurring Burenian invasion of Lovia. The strong stance taken against these issues by the CNP, notably Hoffmann, led to the high polling of CNP candidates.
When Lovian Independent Polling conducted a poll a week before the election, they predicted the following results:
- CNP - ~30%
- Independents - ~20%
- UL - ~15%
- CCPL - ~15%
- GP - ~10%
- LUS - ~10%
- Other - ~5%
