Trinity Church Sofasi

Trinity Church is a Roman Catholic church in Sofasi. It is located in the town center, next to Lucy House. The church was built from 1907 to 1909, replacing an older wooden church built in 1895.

History[]

Trinity Church was built from red brick, as are many of the old houses in Sofasi. It featured gray stone decorations and a gray roof on the spire. It took nearly two years to complete, with the first mass given in November 1908. The first priest was Henry Duke, appointed at age 21 and continuing as priest until 1963.

The current priest is John Bailey. The church offers Sunday-morning services in English and Bredish, and does at least a monthly Sunday-evening mass in Chinese. The church has seating for 1500 people.
