Trivia

Tyrstead (Russian: Тирстед) is a Lovian hamlet in the state of Seven. Tyrsted is located on Philosopher's Island, north of Novosevensk. The village has seen many demographic shifts over the years. It was founded in 1892 by Scandinavian settlers, who originally named it Tyrsted after a parish in Denmark. By 1915, however, it had become heavily English-speaking, and in 1916 the village council decided on the new anglicised spelling of Tyrstead.

After the famine of 1956, followed by widespread immigration of the village, the ethnic composition changed again to become majority Russian-speaking. Today 87% of the population are ethnically Russian and 69% speak Russian as their native language, the highest proportions in all of Seven or indeed Lovia. It is also one of the most economically deprived areas, suffering from high unemployment and low levels of education among its inhabitants.
